Severe weather spotter certification training will be provided by the National Weather Service (NWS). The SKYWARN Storm Spotter Program was created by the NWS to improve warning services. The NWS needs real-time reports of hail size, wind damage, flash flooding, heavy rain, and tornadoes, among others, to effectively warn the public of inclement weather. This training is open to anyone with an interest in weather and a desire to serve the community. By attending you are not committing yourself to be a spotter. Registration is not required. The training is sponsored by the Western New York Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, and the Geography & Planning Department.
