Applied Research Projects
Research opportunities are available to students in the study of rocks, fossils, environmental issues, and geological processes. Laboratory work and hands-on outdoor data collection are central investigation techniques applied by Earth Sciences and Science Education majors.
Internship opportunities are available with engineering and environmental consulting firms and New York State and Erie County agencies.
Past field trips include Hawaii, the American West (Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks), the Adirondacks, and Maine. Trips to Europe are planned.
Students can attend and present research findings at national and regional geology conferences with faculty members.
Get involved! Join the Astronomy Club, Geology Club, Sigma Gamma Epsilon (earth sciences honor society), or participate in professional conferences and workshops.
