Earth Sciences and Geology

Earth science majors study the earth as a dynamic, interactive system of land, sea, atmosphere, and solar system. Geology is the study of materials and processes that form and shape the earth.

Geography and Environmental Geography

Geography examines the physical properties of the Earth's surface and the mosaic of people and cultures spread across it. Environmental Geography focuses on how humans impact, manage, sustain, and conserve the natural environment.

*Geosciences students are well-prepared for graduate work—including Buffalo State programs like the Great Lakes Environmental Science M.A., M.S., and 4+1 pathway, and Multidisciplinary Studies which allows students to design their own program based on their specific academic interests and career goals.

Graduates who intend to become Earth Science teachers continue on to the M.S. in Science Education for certification in secondary teaching.
